Description Summary

Accessibility isn't a nice to have that can simply be bolted on before a game releases, its a key component of a games quality, a genuine production concern, and increasingly growing as a commercial and legal expectation. This masterclass will equip UI/UX practitioners to embed accessible thinking into their own craft, and to become the person that champions accessibility across their studio.

We'll start by establishing a clear business case, illustrating how teams can point to th size and spending power of the disabled player audience within their games target demographics, and offsetting this benefit against cost of retrofitting accessibility later. We'll emphasise language that resonates with different stakeholders, including producers, and leadership. From this position, we'll move into the specifics of designing for disability, covering major disability categories with practical examples.

The second half turns into delivery, focusing on how accessibility sits with production. You'll learn about where and when accessibility conversations should take place, and how specific components of accessibility can sit across a production lifecycle. In parallel, we'll emphasise key components of quality, including how accessibility sits alongside quality assurance and user research.

You'll leave with both knowledge on accessible design and a clear plan of approach to get things moving forward within your own studio.
